Outreach & Missions

Community Outreach – Our community partners are very important to us. We are building partnerships with area schools in supporting the students and staff at Hiram Elementary and Hiram High Schools. Activities to date have included Christmas support, appreciation days, staff support, addressing food insecurities, and tutoring/mentoring with students. 

UPDATE…Food For Friends Drive-In DistributionDue to the Covid19 precautions, we are currently offering emergency food distribution on a case-by-case basis and we will have one Drive-In day per month.  Our next Drive-In Day is by appointment only and is scheduled for Saturday,  May 22ndth.  Please contact the church office to schedule your appointment or to inquire as to our emergency pantry availability at 770-943-1738 or by email at hfumcoffice@gmail.com.

Volunteers ONLY – If you or your family or group is interested in serving with our Food For Friends Drive-In Pantry on either Friday or Saturday, please click on the link below and sign-up for one of the available slots.  Servants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult and ALL volunteers must be trained and follow our Social Distancing Guidelines.  Use this link to sign-up as a volunteer:

Food For Friends Regular Pantry  – As part of our community ministry, food items are distributed on the 4th Saturday from 10am to 12pm.  The benefits are offered to those who meet specific government requirements. Please contact the church office at 770-943-1738 or hfumcoffice@gmail.com for more information on these requirements and to sign up for our next distribution day.

Food For Friends Mobile Food Pantry (currently on hold) – As part of our community ministry, food items are distributed on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 3pm to 5pm with a wonderful community worship experience at 2pm. These benefits are open to everyone in need and carry no specific requirements.

Clothing Closet (currently on hold) 

Annual Mission Trips – Different groups within the church participate in local, national and international mission trips. Past examples include youth members taking part in the River of Life mission program in Paulding County, and several church members traveling to Mississippi help in the recovery efforts following the severe flooding in the area, and hurricane relief in Florida.

Summer Children’s Lunch Program- The United Methodist Women have a rich history in ministry with women and children and partner with other local churches to help provide lunches to children in need during the summer months.

Murphy Harpst Children’s Center and the United Methodist Children’s Home- We offer support to the worthy institutions through special offerings and collections.
